At the reception held in the PyeongChang Olympic Village today, the Estonian delegation was officially welcomed as a member of the Olympic Village, where the Estonian flag was hoisted in the central square to the accompaniment of the national anthem.

At the traditional welcoming ceremony in the central square of the Olympic Village, the Estonian delegation was represented by athletes, coaches and support personnel.

Our Olympic team was greeted by mayor of the Olympic Village Ryu Seung-min, an Olympic winner in table tennis: “Welcome to PyeongChang! This Village will become your home for the days and weeks to follow. I promise we will do our best so that you feel at home, that meals are delicious, and the environment is secure. I wish you success in the coming Olympic Games!”

According to the Estonian chef de mission Martti Raju, the team was well received in PyeongChang. “The PyeongChang Olympic Village, where most our athletes live, is compact, and everything is nearby. The transport works efficiently, the quarters are warm, catering is organized smoothly and flexibly, and all necessities have been provided. There is essentially nothing to complain about. Sometimes there are misunderstandings in communication with the volunteers working in the village, but in the end, everything gets sorted out,” Raju said.
